Local attractions

Just ten minutes from Morges, our gardens are an ideal starting-point for visiting some of the many attractions the region has to offer. Here are just a few ideas:

The Jan Michalski Foundation in Montricher, less than 10km from the gardens. This new venue for writing and literature is housed in an astonishing modern building with magnificent views across the surrounding countryside. The library is open to the public and the Foundation organises three art exhibitions a year.

See how regional cheeses are made at La Fromagerie Gourmande in Montricher, just 9.5km from the gardens (closed Tuesday).

Audrey Hepburn, one of the world’s best-loved actresses, lived for many years in Tolochenaz, just 30 minutes from the gardens, where you can admire her home, visit her grave, or take a photo by her bust in the village. She is also the star of a permanent exhibition at the Fondation Bolle

Continue to enjoy the wonderful outdoors with a trip to the Arboterum botanical gardens in Aubonne, 16km from Château de Vullierens.

Savour delicious Swiss chocolate, and a great cup of coffee, at Fornerod or at Boillat in Morges town centre.

Fill up on more art at the Alexis Forel Contemporary Art Museum in Morges, a 20-minute drive from Vullierens.

See walnuts being pressed, and learn how walnut oil and other local specialities are produced at Moulin de Sévery, 3km from the gardens.

Visit the Rolex Learning Center. The building, by the renowned Japanese architectural firm SANAA, is 12km from Vullierens.

Remember to check times and availability before setting off. These are just some of the region’s attractions. Contact Morges Tourist Board for further details and more ideas.
